To create leads for financial merchants, the way forward seems to be to create the form to collect the details on your own web site. Then key (or automate) those details into the relevant merchants form.

Is this allowed (legally)? Would the affiliate need to get to be registered with the data protection act?

Any help/advise would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

You should idealy be registered under the Data Protection Act, as you are collecting and storing (all be it for a short time) peoples details.

It only costs £35 to be registered, and just involves filling in a form, theres no checks or anything, so its worth doing. A couple of commissions (or maybe just one!) and it will be paid for.

You may also need a CCL (Consumer Credit Licence), although sometimes you can be covered by the merchants licence, but have to be specifically added. Its a bit of a grey area and the subject of a lot of debate in these forums.

I gather that if you don't host the form on your site, and instead use an iframe pulling the form from the merchants site, then you don't need one (but not 100% sure on this, so don't take it as gospel!)

Your best bet is really to speak to your headmaster at the school, and they should be able to explain all the in's and out's and what you do and don't need.

    Hi

You don't need any licences if you use an iFrame or Autofeed script as you will not be holding data yourself.

Once your site is complete ask the merchant/network to check it out and ensure that it is compliant.
A good merchant/network should do all they can to help in the early stages.

    Good Luck
