    Hello guys,

Wondered if anyone could help with an issue. We've collected data over the past couple of months and we need some help to put it into a database. It's a real mix of data and we're going to be looking to move it on at some stage but we need to know what's gone where etc so the quality can remain good which is in everyones interests!

If someone can recommend a firm or point us in the right direction that would help a great deal as we're not technical in this way.

    Thanks.

    Paul

Do you want the database to be for online or offline use?
How is your data stored at the moment?

I know of a company who will become "List managers" for you and will look after these databases, also cleaning them on a regular basis. They do it for free and will also pay you a royalty each time they sell the data on.

The database you have, will need to be of some kind of relevance to it i.e: financial data, renewal data or at least have some kind of structure.

If this might be of some interest to you, please email me.

No way! List managers can do one! This data is way too valuable and is staying in house for us to sell, if someone can recommend a database maker of some sort that would be great.:tup

You didn't respond to the 1st bit of my question.. Would you like the data to be accessible online? i.e. via a browser. This way you can make sections of it available to other internet users (for a fee or whatever). Is so, a simple mysql database with a php frontend will probably be sufficient for your needs. If you want it for offline use only, you could use MS Access.

How easy a job it is depends on whether your data is ready for import (i.e. all the data is arranged into fields/columns in your spreadsheets.) If it's not in a format that can imported you will need to pay someone (or do it yourself) to input the data manually into the new database.

So, for online or offline use, and is the data nice and tidy?

    Hi D-Mac,

You seem to know what you're talking about! Online would be good. I'd like it highly organised so I can sell the data and flag it as sold at a certain time as we don't double sell (unlike some others :td). The data is kind of organised but I'd be willing to take the time... I mean get someone to take the time (!) to organise it into the database.

Can you shoot me your details and perhaps we could chat or if you could recommend someone it's definitely worth a beer for sure!:tup:tup:tup
