Would you include Data providers / resellers of 'delined' data / call centres within lead gen ?
Or give them a separate section ? Or a spin off forum ? Or something else ?
From the thread @ http://www.affiliates4u.com/forums/f...cal-forum.html
It appears that some members would like us to split Lead Gen topics from the main Finance Vertical... We can make this so, but is it what you really want?

I would suggest that we split 'data trading' into a different forum
There is a big difference between aggregating customers looking for advice about a finance product in real time and recycling tired databases.
Data/ Leads in themselves are not specific to finance, it just so happens that for us we are exclusively a finance lead aggregator so it seems that this is the best place to post for us.
Hope that is helpful,
John

Yes please Matt, would reduce the clutter for those of us interested in finance products on the networks rather than dodgy call centre leads.
AffiliateLaunch.co.uk - all new affiliate programme launches daily
Makes sense, but agree with Johnd that data traders and/or call centres need to post elsewhere. The section should be called ONLINE lead generation.

Well, I've cast my vote... But to be honest, it dosen't really matter to me as I deal with both online and call centre leads/data.
I think too much time is wasted by those who are overly precious about either/or (depending on which side of the line their business falls).
I do however appreciate the Website is entitled "Affiliates4u" which would suggest the site should be purely for internet lead generators - however, here is the dictionary definition for the word "Affiliate":
VERB: To become closely connected or associated: The two unions voted to affiliate.
NOUN: A person, organization, or establishment associated with another as a subordinate, subsidiary, or member: network affiliates.
So we are still non-the-wiser!

Hmm, what about those of us who produce 24hr online leads and live online leads. Plus we mostly sell direct to client so I'm guessing they'd look at the online section and not the data section as they class our data as leads. So where would we sit as I don't particularly want people ranting about where we post and I certainly don't want to be in the tired data section as that's not what we do as everyone well knows!
Can't we just have a Dodgy Foreign Call Centre Forum?

"Can't we just have a Dodgy Foreign Call Centre Forum?"
Great idea!
This said, even in the "Future of the Finance Vertical?" thread there were two posts (now deleted) full of spammy links to a site selling watches, and a post from some other idiot about global economic politics. I guess the plain facts are that no matter how carefully you carve up the forums, some people are just too plain lazy or stupid and will continue to post rubbish wherever they like.

I voted "no" - but simply because the question asks about splitting "lead generation". Now if the question was about splitting away "Data trading" that would be different.
Don't know about splitting "lead generation" as such - after all, that is subject to interpretation eg "online" lead generation is quite an integral part of affiliate marketing surely?
I think the issue is more pertinent to "offline" lead generation and "data" handling/trading, they're the sort of subjects that need a spererate section in my opinion.

Splitting the forums is a good idea but you run the risk of the muppets simply posting the same thing in both forums - ie double the spam.
If you can police it then great, i think most finance affiliates would be happy with separate sections.
A good idea, however, as others have stated, difficult to police. Will this idea provide a platform for genuine introducers??
No point. They will post in both as mentioned before.
Reasons Against
If you don't like their posts don't read them. If you don't like their products don't buy them.
But it should be down to you to do this yourself rather than it being over policed
Thought this deserved a bump, I hope Matthew would agree.![]()
