    Hi All,

I've come out of hibernation for a quick post. Was talking to Michael Anthony the other day, who pointed out to me opportunities in Personal Claims.

We're considering it seriously now, having built big volumes already in loans, life insurance and debt management (for more info on our current sites see www.netbasic.co.uk/site/portfolio).

We plan on launching a new site called "Claimed.co.uk", and we'd like to build up a large volume of monthly leads just as we have done with out other websites.

We're interested in talking to genuine end purchasers of Personal Injury Claims leads. Please don't get in touch if you're a call centre or middlemen lead trader.

One caveat - if you're a company that deals with Michael at AMS, then please don't get in touch either as it would be a little below the belt to bypass him when he has spurred me to look into this!

    Please email me at luke.ashworth @ netbasic.co.uk

    That's all for now folks!

    Cheers

    Luke

Wouldn't worry to much about Michael Anthony as his Consumer Credit Licence has expired anyway.

Last time I checked you don't need a Consumer Credit Licence to trade Personal Injury leads

Luke - delete your posts mate, you've just blown the lid on this and created a whole load of competitors that we didn't need

Just found out also that you need to be authorised by the Ministry Of Justice to collect leads for this - costs around £400 but can take months. Best get your application off now!

Guys just a quick one, if you are only collecting personal injury leads to reffer out to other companies you do not have to be regulated by the MOJ. You only need to be regulated if you provide an accident management service. So dont waste your money on it as you really dont need it.

    Hi Lee

Bold statement....but, this is only true if you don't take any form of "payment for the refferal" which obviously would be pointless! to affiliates.

if you have read the rules, please show were it says any different because i don't want to pay the fee plus the % of my profits they are wanting to be regulated.

The MoJ specifically say you need one, but a big lead broker i speak to says none of his affiliates has one and he reckons you don't need it if you are only generating them and not calling them?!

Would like to get to the bottom of this..

We have spoken to MoJ at length on this issue and I can assure you that unless you produce less than 25 leads per calendar quarter, you need to be authorised, regardless of what you do with the lead thereafter. The fact that you don't deal with the applicant directly is irrelevant.

Whilst I am here, I may as well address the idiot that keeps posting negatively about me and my business all over this place, who is almost certainly one of the unethical affiliates that we've kicked out of the school and now seems to have an axe to grind.

This is cut and pasted directly from my own forum..

"As some of you may be aware, our CCL expired last month. Given that certain disgruntled expelled students have decided that this news needs to be plastered all over the web, I thought that it would be worth explaining the position to you all.

The notice to renew the license was sent to me by post and arrived whilst I was away in Europe for the whole of July and August. Strangely, nowhere on the license does it mention an expiry date, if it did then the renewal date would have been diarised for action well in advance. On my return, I contacted the OFT to explain the situation and was told that as the license had been allowed to expire I had no option but to re-apply, which is what I immediately did.

The new application has been received by the OFT as confirmed in writing by them and as none of my circumstances have changed since last applying, the granting of the license is just a formality.

Members should be aware that this situation in no way reflects any weakness in our business and is simply an irritating administrative hiccup. Merchants continue to pay us and we continue to pay affiliates as usual, as we have done since we started.

I trust that this clarifies the position for all concerned."

Just a further thought on this MoJ thing..

Surely if the regulations mean that an affiliate has a very high cost of entry, i.e. a £400 fee and the attached drawn out application process, the regulator is effectively strangling the potential growth of this market, on which they depend for their existence. They are killing the businesses that they are supposed to be assisting and protecting, all in the guise of "consumer protection".

Clearly these regulations were drawn up without any consideration of affiliates. I wonder is the same goes for marketing agencies and the other various middlemen within the industry.

Might be one for the IAB AM council to get their teeth into?

Yes, that works and in fact is the route we are taking until our own MoJ thing is sorted, effectively acting as an agent and using their number.

This doesn't solve the issue of having multiple sites sending leads to multiple merchants though, which is what we are now trying to address.
