dont give out free leads, if they want them they will buy them! Trust no one in this industry far too many dodge fu**ers and robbing bastards. I could list at least 10 that owe money to me!
Hi all,
Just thought I'd share a few scenarios that I have come across in the past week from some less then honest individuals. and apologies if some of my language is colourful but I am getting more than frustrated.....
1) I have been happily selling data for unsecured loans at a decent price for the past month or so. These leads are generated through DM applications who just want a loan. I was passing these on a daily basis once funds had been received but after building up trust with a buyer agreed to allow them to pay on a weekly basis. They have now ended all communication and with it taken 1200 leads. As i'm not a tw*t and looking to make good of a bad situation I now cannot sell these and have removed them from my main database. What can I do about this? I do have an signed agreement with them, but is it worth my time chasing this or should I write this off.
2) I was then approached by another loan company who was happily going to purchase my leads, however, once taken a days worth of leads, which they informed me they got good numbers out of. They have now disappeared into the abiss and again contact cannot be made. It is common for people to take samples to get free work an p*ss off?
3) I also have a buyer for my data, but who would like to take the data run it through a duplication system and then send the cash. Are they real or should I purchase some of the barge poles that i've seen for sale on here!!!!
I have been informed by a member on here not to name names so in this instance I won't.
Your comments and advice is welcomed.
Thanks
Dave

..............and the reason people will continue to get spanked?
Everytime an affiliate/lead generator/merchant mentions the name of one of these companies the post gets removed :'(
This allows bogus companies to continue to rip people off.
Yup it seems the loan leads side of things hasn't really changed, I was in it about 5 years ago and being ripped off was just as easy then as it is now and that's regardless of being a buy or seller.
only thing you can do is offer a few to start with (at cost maybe rather than free), then if they go well they should take more and keep increasing as the trust grows but I personally wouldn't give any leads as freebies or extend credit even if I were 100% confident in the quality.. far too many dodgy scammers out there..
trust is earned in the finance sector .. its a poor guy that gives it by default![]()
Agreed that trust is earned, having been around in the DM/IVA sector for over 5 years, you presume that signed agreements give you an element of protection when selling leads or having back end deals. The price I was selling these at was hardly life changing, but it's the principal of it.
I shall be persuing this company out of prinicipal and have already instructed my solicitor.
David,
can you pm me the name of the company .. i have a feeling i know who it is and if its the same person might be worth us joining forces if / when i take court action

As a forum owner we're stuck between a brick and a hard place with libel - therefore we can't allow name and shame posts, thus we must remove them to not only protect ourselves but the posters too.
Perhaps we should praise the good guys more?
Yeah but I wouldn't mind some of the companies threatening legal action against me for naming and shaming them.
I'd love them to foot the bill of me being able to say in a small claims court.
Keep up the good work though mate.
Just a thought couldnt you get all members to pm you in regards to being ripped off then maybe you could make a decision as to ban that company or not?
It sickens me to see certain companies asking for more business when I know they've ripped me off in the past :'(
I believe I am the saleperson that has been promoting said poles of late... They'd be selling like hot cakes too.
Never ever de-dupe by giving your data away to a third party, whats wrong with a genuine buyer sending you their file? Also, You don't require the full field to de-dupe, e.g just dedupe based on date of birth and postcode, theres rarely the same birthday within a few houses.... You can play it safe. Let me know if you'd like some pointers.
I ALWAYS ask the 3 or 4 trused guys on here if they've heard of someone, and unless they have, and its good news, then I use my 'test drive' barge pole and use accordingly. It has only 15 pushes on the clock!
On here - people dissagree all the time, but the good guys always agree on sharing bad news about bad suppliers.

Who are the 3 or 4 trusted guys on here ? Who do you ask to confirm that a company is OK to deal with ?I ALWAYS ask the 3 or 4 trusted guys on here if they've heard of someone,
I suspect good info may save a lot us some money.
Sorting the wheat from the chaff is a nightmare in finance.

I also would like to share my experience. I respect the forum policies & won't take the name of the person / co. My colleague Ashish contacted this Financial co. & they showed interest in life insurance leads. As a sample they took 1 Life insurance lead from us on 30th Oct. They then sent a mail that the no. is incorrect & has 11 digits, whereas the no. was correct, once we replied back he then accepted his mistake & called the client, on 6th Nov (After 7 days of lead being given to him). Quite obviously the customer declined interest. This freeloader then questioned the quality of the lead & was so unprofessional that he hung up the phone.
We are getting conversions ranging from 35-50% on our life insurance leads & in few cases it's reported as high as 75%. Even in the sample lead we sent to him, the lady has shown interest in Life Insurance & we have the voice log of the call also.
Such people are only interested in free stuff & are not worth doing business with them.
regards
No worries matey, luckily the loans isn't my main source of work so if the w*nker is reading this, you haven't ruined my business and you will be getting a solicitors letter very soon.
To the guys who have asked for info on the company, no offence but my solicitor has asked for me not to mention the company name until we have issued proceedings. We will then legally be allowed to ask for information on the company from others. Once I am at this stage I will come back to you.
