That is a super question!
Here is the norm in the industry...
When you send your client ot the broker, the URL (Broker's site) is called with your affiliate tag.
That affiliate tag is received by the Broker's server and automatically inserted into the database.
From this point on, that client's IP is under your affiliate code! even if they come back later from another IB or affiliate.
Back in 2008 there were some incidents that were reposted by affiliate sites erasing cookies of broker if they existed.. and as a security measure, most brokers have switched to tag-based affiliation.
As a technical note - once database is used, cookies do not offer any value.
If you can tell me more as to the reason why you would want a cookie, i will try to point in the right direction or give proper info.
Bottom line, in general, But cookies is not good for you as an affiliate.
