I've got myself a bit confused on the noindex nofollow issue.

I've created a site Signed Football Shirts and I've been told I need to sort out my duplicate content in order to improve my ranking within G. The site has a few pages where there will be a bit of content together with an easy content unit. The posts that I've added are all related to categories, thus causing me duplicate content issues (I think) as the same post will therefore appear twice in essence within my site.

My query is this - should the categories and/or the posts be changed to noindex & follow or any other combination. Or is there any other solution that I'm missing?

I've installed the meta robots plugin so can change the settings within there.

I'm not a wordpress user, but I'm sure theres an SEO plugin that takes care of noindexing the correct pages, basically you could noindex your categories pages as they are showing the full posts, so duplicate content could appear.

I'm not sure if wordpress is capable or not of putting descriptions into categories, but I think the best layout for your category pages would be to have some specific category text for the cat (Say Arsenal Signed Football Shirts) and then have the post links in with the images and the buy buttons but without the post content, so in essence you will now have more pages of unique content (your category pages) and not have to worry about the duplicate content as there won't be any.

I'm sure some wordpress experts know all the plugins/changes you'll need to do this.

all in one seo will take care of the no index, no follow will take care of no follow

the difference is no index tells the engines that those pages shouldn't be presented in search results, no follow implies you don't trust the link and that the bot shouldn't follow that link.
