Should I use nofollow on all internal links?

    What about linking to merchants?

Or does the amount of outbound links not really matter?

    Thanks.

On a lot of sites we've made all links to anything vaugely duplicated, affiliate links and anything external including anything links to other sites we own regardless of how relevant the link is to a person.

The official line is that nofollow is for links where you don't know the relevancy or quality of the external link (eg: blog comment links), but they've made things so grey that I'd recommend anything not directly related to the site not is set with this and let Google work it out.

I tend to nofollow most outgoing links on clients sites, gives the internal links slightly more power. Keep internal links dofollow as it passes more power to those, i usually no follow any about, privacy and terms and conditions etc.. pages.

Overall it doesnt make a massive difference but as a whole nofollow outgoing links unless you feel like passing them a bit of link love then keep it do follow.

Only use nofollow on internal links like privacy policy, contact us. If you use nofollow on all your internal links you wont do it any good at all, you can get ok for longtain rankings on onpage seo alone
