When you say 'decent money' do you mean enough to give up work or a bit of additonal income?
Having read quite a few threads I am coming to the conclusion that hardly anyone makes any decent money from this.
One guys No1 in Google and hasnt earnt a penny!
I have some ideas but am I just wasting my time trying to learn all the information available?
Can someone please prove me wrong?
When you say 'decent money' do you mean enough to give up work or a bit of additonal income?
Definately enough to give up work!
Don't get me wrong, I didnt think it was easy (well, I did think it was easier than it is) but when some folk have been doing this for years and not earning anything, it is making me wonder if it is worth it...
it does work
sometimes some sites just dont work, then you try something else but unless you try you dont find out
My site site was 20 pages and made £500 in its first month, it blew me away and addicted for life now. That was 2 years ago and dont no different that what Smingle and Affi have been teaching people but that was after following the 30 Day Challenge

Ah well I don't make enough to give up work but I make on average £600-£700 a month and I think i've been doing it for about 2 years, i've become lazy the last year and got used to that but if I make the effort and do something then i'm sure I could make a lot more.
So i'd say for sure it works :tup
Exactly. All you need is traffic and sooner or later you will make a sale. The work is to get enough traffic but that just boils down to picking a decent keyword from the google keyword tool, a few pages (i dont do sites less than 10) and some links
I now go for larger sites, the most pages you have the more traffic you will bring in. Have a decent looking site and people will click through and you make a commision. So easily to make at least £100 so those who arent making money need to think why.

Could someone give me an example of the type of sites you make money from?
And Realfun, you say you only do sites with 10 pages or more.
Once people click off the first page don't they get bored?
Could you give me an example?
I want to learn more because £500 a month would be fantastic!
Not saying easy to get to that, cause I know different, but maybe one day!
10 pages is a minimum, one im doing at the moment will be about 100. That isnt alot really, do 3-4 a day for 2-3 weeks and a decent sized site
Not showing examples, most of mine are in areas i dont want people to copy
As for .. do people get bored, you dont want them moving around your site really. YOu want a call to action for them to click and land on the merchants website. Get enough landing on the merchants website and someone will make a sale sooner or later, sooner once you have enough traffic

If you think getting into affiliate marketing will allow you to 'give up work' then you have been mis-informed.
If you want to work for less than full time hours a day then stay in your day job, at least you can pull the odd sicky and get paid holidays. Affiliate marketing IMO involves a great deal more time at the PC than the average day job!!
How I found myself being a rich twat out of this I don't really know - but I can tell you I have made hundreds of sites along the way about many different things and have put in thousands of hours in - thousands and thousands and probably to the detriment of my physical health!!!!
Its only 10 years down the line I can now take my foot off the gas peddle as and when I please.
Anyway - it is possible, good luck with it.

Do you know that 95% of people fail in businesses/ only 5% make it happen. Same is here - it is business. You need to think and act and make it happen for you. Reading and dreaming wont get you any closer to your goal.
Have you tried at least 5 niches?
Have you built decent 5 websites, 100 pages each?
Have you built 1000 links in 4 month time?
Do you educate yourself on what works?
Most of these "desperate" people who got top ranking and tried it for two months, haven't even attempted properly.
Recently had one affiliate asking me - why he isn't making money? Guess what, he opened a blog posted one article and thats it - now waiting for 2 months and wonders...
It's no play, affiliate marketing is business, you need to learn how to pick good niches, build sites, how to drive traffic, how to convert these visitors to customers, etc
Get maybe somebody to mentor you?

I make the odd pound or two and was able to pack in my full time job!
Andrew Clapham - Fashion Blogger.
I'm in my fourth month of AM and last month I made £50 and this month I have made £53 so far.
Am leaving the country in three months for about two years so will keep doing it until that time is up and hopefully I will be making enough to come back to the UK and do AM full-time.
Does that sound possible?
Hi Sandis,
I have been around for a couple of months now, not rushing it, trying to learn on weekends (still having a busy day job).
So, you ask:
"Have you built decent 5 websites, 100 pages each?"
This must be a fair question, but it is in stark contrast with what I've read around here lately. Some threads (and books) recommend that newbies start with small niches and target a small group of potential visitors ready to buy that very thing.
Now, I cannot see a small niche allowing room for 100 pages. I read that large sites are difficult for newbies because they are difficult to get to #1 in serps.
So, where should we newbies begin - small niches or 100 page sites? Am I missing something?
I know that AM is business - and therefore I think it's learnable. It is important not to have unreasonable expectations and start at the right place. Where is it for newbies?
:blush
