Hi there - good ethos, and thanks for the reply. That makes total sense, I have picked up a lot from this forum and its great there's a 2 way give and take culture to it.

I guess Im just trying to figure out how am experienced affiliate would do things - and how much time one person can allocate.

    Thanks for that

    Cheers

Are your site in the number 1 postion in google ?

The 40% was as a finding of my own results and was confirmed by someone else in this game too as he was roughly getting 41% from google. However it is obvious in some instances that the google tool is showing wrong traffic results for phrases, this is something that no one has control over

Yep top effort - you are the type of person I don't mind helping, as you reg the domain and develop it into a decent looking site within hours of regging it - good on you and good luck with it

Please could someone tell me if they are seeing red highlighted text on this page within the easy content units? Have a slight suspicion it's what I'm seeing as I'm on my Mac..

    Thank you, :-)

I can't see any red text and I'm using a windows xp pc.

Totally unrelated but I see you are number 1 for underwear Smingle - well done!!! Did it take a lot of hard work to get there?

Red highlighted text is a sign that a link is no-follow, usually need a browser plugin to see such things.

Would you say SERPS with 'shopping' and Adwords links above position the natural/organic pages would reduce the 40% or is that figure factoring that in?

One of my sites is getting about 5% of the searches.

Smingle does your strategy include any long tail techniques?

While that may be a ok/good keyword for sales, building out the site to include specific names of prints, variations of the term, other keywords may be a good strategy too, as the site gets more power, the deeper pages should rank easy for longer terms.

    Your thoughts?

    Hi Joe

Yep of course. If the site was 20 pages in total I would do each page targetting totally different keywords and only targetting either 1 other related keyword or 1 long tail keyword per page (this will happen naturally if your content is very good and written well)

This way it will be much easier to pick up the extra low hanging fruit which no one is targetting and therefore making it easy to rank these pages, as they will have internal links from other "banksy" related pages also.

eg banksyprints / org / uk / banksyposters is just an example of tagretting another keyword, then just treat that page as totally different "site" and create it with completely different titles, keywords, metas etc being targetted around that keyword.

It does depend on your individual goal though of course, some people prefer to do thin affiliate sites which take 1-2 hours and make residual income for no on going effort.

All this is IMO of course.

I notice that the domain banksy prints, is now ranking number 8 on G Well done Andrea

Its difficult to predict the buying behaviour of people based on a single keyword domain match. That's like gambling. How many people buy, who are just looking for that keyword - or are 95% of them browsers ?

imo better to take an exact keyword match domain blue widgets and then build 3 generic pages off it: the home page, cheap blue widgets, best blue widgets and 10 product pages off it: brand1 blue widget, brand 2 blue widget etc.

Thats not a big job and it gives everything a lot more weight.

Otherwise your nicely targeted keyword domain 2 page site will be here today and gone tommorrow and you'll spend your life jumping from project to project, unless you hit lucky.

Make sure you do the keyword research for all the brands though, otherwise you'll spend time on something for nothing.

Come back in 6 months and report how the 3 page sites are doing.

    Hi TawnyFrog,

    Site's looking good.

Now that this has been up and running for a while, would you like to share how it's gone?

I'd be intested to know how much effort you have put in to it and whether it is yet financially viable? Does it take much effort to maintain it - not unique content writing but simply maintaining affliate links etc?

    Regards,
    PTB
