Hi Smingle, good stuff on spotting and giving the niche - I just checked and someone has registered it now - gotta be quick!

Just wondered, as that is a respectable search volume - are you not tempted to purchase and develop yourself. Add it to a portfolio etc? Sorry for being nosey - but just curious!

    Cheers

    Hi Smingle,

I don't really do niche sites, but I'm thinking about looking at them. I'm just curious about your recommendation (which someone snapped up).

At the time of posting, Google adwords was showing 40500 local and 40500 global matches for your term. It was also showing 40500 local but 60500 global for "banksy art" (which was also free as / org / uk).

Have you used a different tool to me or used it in a different way? Is "Print" better than "Art"? or do I need to go read your mega-post?

    Cheers,
    PTB

Im guessing you've got the match type on broad match - try changing to exact - will give you a more accurate estimation for that search term.

Yep, that's it. Art comes out a little better than prints with exact.

No problem - I have 100's of undeveloped domains (the majority in my chosen industries) and I try to stay focused as much as possible now, as some of my major projects need more time to be spent on them.

Plus I am not greedy, and think it is only fair to repay back the community which I have grown up on

If I spot one, and I think it is is one I WOULD pursue, then I don't mind pointing it out to people so at least someone else gets a chance with it.

    Hope that helps

Regardless of the numbers you've also got to consider what a user might be searching for -

Somebody searching for "Banksy Art" probably wants to look at examples of his work, or find out more about the artist, and will be less likely to buy something than somebody searching for "Banksy Prints" which would be more likely to result in a conversion (prints is more targeted than art).

You can also make your own Banksy prints for free here http://www.banksy.co.uk/shop/index.html

Wonder how many people searching "Banksy Prints" are looking for that page? Probably not many but it's another example of why you have to be careful when researching potential niche sites.

    Hi PTB,

banksy art gets 27,100 exact local searches, but for me it refers to someone looking at bankys art work. Banksyprints is suggesting someone is looking for a physical object to buy as it is something they can put into their house, as opposed to just browsing at his pictures online - it is very specific what they are looking for.

Also, always make sure you choose [exact] match when checking keyword volumes

    Hope this helps

I presonally find the exact match method posted way back by Smingle brings in much less than 40% than google estimates.

i have many keyword domains with none even coming close the 40%. Once the site has aged alittle, been optimised then traffic is excellent but for exact match, there is way to much enthesis on this when at least at the end of the woods, it's wrong

Maybe others find the traffic is as google estimates but many times, no cigar here

:-) Trying to get it up ASAP, any pointers very welcomed. My theme is playing up a bit with EasyContent units which is slightly annoying but hey-ho...

Quick q - is it best to stick with maybe 3 main merchants or so as to not throw customers everywhere or the more the merrier?

Benefits of wireless mean I can sit it the garden too..

    Its certainly looking good.

Easy content units can be awkward with wordpress so I developed a basic plugin Easy Content Units Wordpress Plugin hopefully this will help, PM me or contact via my blog if you have problems
