Affiliate Marketing is makgin me insane :P
Did/does anyone else have experiences of odd sleeping patterns when they first started affiliate marketing?
Its obviously the summer And i work part time! Is there such thing as Affiliates Anonymous?
I'm trying to take in as much info as possible by reading past posts on the forum, so much good stuff... I'm seriously addicted and becoming obsessed, when i'm at work i'm there thinking of niches, and possibilities. Obviously i'm no where yet, but anything could happen right...
I've spent a few pennies on domains as well, but im struggling with content and seo,
Guess i'll have to get to it and try and sort it out! :P
Just a question - dunno if its viable - but i saw lego star wars sets had good search results on google keywords,
and i think some domains are around...however isnt lego and starwars a trade marked product? I have no idea
Cheers Alex

Yes. It's a common affliction.

Important to have a healthy work/life balance, and not become too obsessive. When is comes to affiliate work, be persistent, as results may not be immediate!
Both 'lego' and 'starwars' are trademarked, so personally, I would look for another related niche.
Good luck!

And lego seem to be one of the companies that does send out cease and desists, bear in mind the domain is only part of the SEO process you could still target "lego starwars" without having it in the domain.

Re: Affiliate Marketing is makgin me insane :P
When I first started a few months ago I was staying up until 2am then going to work in the each day and doing it again. Even getting in a few cheeky hours before work.
Knackered me out and the next month I did nothing so I guess its best to have a blanance.
I got a lot done in those first few months the fruits of which are starting to bloom a bit now.
Am leaving work next month so will have to try and structure my time better so I am not working erratic hours.
Will try and come up with a timetable that gives over a good chunk to AM each day.

Haha yeah, I seem to peak in my productiveness in the early hours of the morning. :/.
Do you Build your websites from scratch? I'm still working on that. I tried Wordpress, but didn't like it!
I'm attempting the "atomic Niches" so would 5 pages equally optimized be good enough do you wreckon to get in the first page of google?
Cheers

Re: Affiliate Marketing is makgin me insane :P
Yeah mornings seem to be best. In the evenings I just waste time on forums and reading blogs.
I build most of mine from scratch as I do enjoy designing sites. I've got a few Wordpress sites but I don't like it. Prefer the control I get with notepad and html. But Wordpress sites do seem to rank well. If you don't care what your site looks like and just want to get stuff up quick Wordpress is ideal.
I'm not sure about atomic niches. My keyword niche sites tend to have about five pages and some do ok so 5 pages should be good for a micro/atmoic niche site. I guess it will need back links.
My atomic niche site died on its ass so I am leaving them for a while whilst I work on my keyword projets as I have quite a backlog.

Re: Affiliate Marketing is makgin me insane :P
Yeah, I would rather do the design myself. Although i'm pretty nooby at webdesign but I'm having a go. So would you recommend making a site more Generic? Like instead of doing a particular branded product, do more of a catalogue OF branded products?
I'd love to see a one of thost matrix diagrams of a website. If thats what they're called.
kinda like a site map I guess.
I'm finding it hard to get my head around the layout of the site + why people use affiliate sites (are they naive?) because when I shop i tend to do the "price" research myself. I guess it's obvious people do use affiliate sites, otherwise it wouldn't exist. hmm.
Cheers.

Re: Affiliate Marketing is makgin me insane :P
Me personally I do sites about a type of product such as 'slow cookers'. The site then has mini reviews of slow cookers with a link to a merchant for the them to buy it.
These mini reviews are all on the home page of the site so the users sees them straight away.
I've tried price comparisons but just sending a user straight to a merchant of my choice seems to work much better.
Some people have sites with lots of content on the home page and no links to products until a few pages deep into the site. Do users click through to those pages? Me personally if I am looking to buy something and I land on a site and don't see the goods straight away I'm off.
But I am only new to this game so don't have much experience to back up my theories so make of them what you will.

Re: Affiliate Marketing is makgin me insane :P
Okay. I''m getting it now. Do you leach the reviews off of merchant sites? Like amazon has "reviews" from customers recommending etc?
Hmm, My Goal at the moment is to make at least one sale!
I'd love a mentor to point me in the right direction. But then thats to easy isnt it :P

Re: Affiliate Marketing is makgin me insane :P
I just re-write product descriptions as if I am writing a review.
For example on amazon they usually have a bullet point list of features so I just write them up into a few paragraphs decribing the item.

Re: Affiliate Marketing is makgin me insane :P
Ah, I see, so you could introduce a "not" so good product into the review and compare them, obviously leading to increased hype of the item you're reviewing...
Nice.
I'm hoping by the end of August/September to have made at least £100
Got plenty of time, to try it!
So you recommend making a site - with at least 20pages - :S See right now i'm thinking 20 pages? What can you write on 20 pages? e.g topics etc
ahaha
Because to me, 20 pages i'll be there hours thinking what to write and you would probably tell that i'm "gassing" lol

Okay, I'm laughing now, I just seen an advert banner at the top saying "zavvi" are now with buy.at... Didnt zavvi go into administration?
Just did my research and found out they were saved in march...
