Hey I am on the verge of buying my first domain. I have decided on the product i wish to promote on amazon. However, when using the keyword tool, i used "United States" because i knew my domain name would either be .com/.net/.org. So my product had a good search volume of around 1600 in the US. But, since i LIVE in the United Kingdom, and im trying to promote a product thats search volume is in the United states. Do i apply to become an affiliate of Amazon.com and put amazon.com links on my website. Or do I just sign up at amazon.co.uk because i live in the UK and put amazon.co.uk site links on my website. If i do that wont the US customers click away because it takes them to amazon.co.uk? Or does it not matter if they go to amazon.com or amazon.co.uk, do i still get the commission.

    Thanks a lot !

What is most important is the demography of your site visitors. If your target audience are US visitors then you must link to amazon.com. Otherwise you will make no sale even there will be a lot of impressions. If the buy they will buy in US dollar and will buy from amazon.com site. And the cookie value are always limited to a domain. You referred a customer, even if he buys through amazon.co.uk->amazon.com you will not get the commission because amazon.co.uk cookie will fall in visitor's browser and it will never be read in amazon.com site order confirmation page.

There is no problem if a UK company does business in US. But your personal profile and payment details should be of your own.

Should you have any doubt please write back.

Think there is a wordpress plugin for sorting your demographic country for Amazon. It will direct them to the appropriate site when they click. That's of your using wordpress that is.

Yes. Otherwise you will lose all commissions of the customers who come to amazon.co.uk (through your affiliate link) and finally buy at amazon.com site.
