Domain as a registered trademark

Hi, I was wondering what the best way is to check if a domain is a registered trademark.

I noticed a site with the same domain as I have but with dashes. His site says his domain name is a registered trademark of some company. I have tried checking at http:// tess2.uspto dot gov using the trademark electronic search system but nothing comes up (I checked with this site before I purchased the domain). The domain is very generic. Any advice on where I should check.

For the UK it's the online trademark services at ipo.gov.uk.

cheers. I have a dot com which is why I thought I should look at the u.s based site, but I will check that site out as well.

I'm beginning to think this is just something generic the person is saying. There are 10 sites with hisdomainname . com is a registered trademark of company name and all the sites have generic domain names, non of which I can find anything about in the trademark searches.
