    Hi Guys

I'm giving out some newbie tips to make this forum a bit more exciting I'm not saying I'm the most amazing affiliate, far from it probably, but anyway here's my tip ...

Make good use of images on your site. People scan web pages, they don't read them that much, and the thing that really catches their eye is images. You can process information in an image much quicker than you can read words.

When I give a link to a merchant site, I now try to give a merchant logo too. One of my projects is adding merchant logos to my sites. You can see this in action on my mens shirts site. (Sadly, this site no longer ranks on Google, so any links are appreciated, but it does rank OK on Bing). Anyway, you can see the merchant logos down the left column, and don't they catch your eye and look pretty, yes? In the middle of the page I'm sticking to simple links, as I want to concentrate the links into what I feel is the "hot zone" for clicks, i.e. in the middle of the page, towards the top.

Next note my use of some nice product images such as the one titled "Pierre Cardin Shirts at Very". I prefer images that contain models, as these are slightly more interesting than the product alone. I've used an image that hopefully I won't have to change for years, if ever (low maintenance!!), but I will change them if they start to look seriously out of date. The main purpose of the image is to draw the visitor's eye over the most important section of the site, i.e. the affiliate links in the middle!

You might think my site is rather basic, but it does make sales once it is well ranked in Google (as I said, any links in appreciated). I hope you enjoyed this post, and if you want to show your appreciation, then maybe your shirt collection could do with updating

Without wanting to go OT, I had a quick look at your site and noticed you have google analytics, statcounter and inactive crazyegg tracking, do you think that's a bit overkill on the stats?

I like statcounter because it can give you a good summary screen showing visits to all your sites. I add Google Analytics to every site just in case I ever have time to look at it.

Crazy Egg was a brief experiment.

I don't think it's overkill but I probably should spend a bit of time looking at Google Analytics. I don't actually spend that much time looking at stats these days, I prefer building content.

I'll tell you what I was thinking, GA and statcounter together, in my experience, isn't a good combination for rankings in G.

Point noted, although I do have at least one site ranking no 1 which uses the combo. I did worry a bit about a possible impact on site load time. I hope that if I can get all the other SEO factors right then any effect will be minimised.
