    hello.

I'm a little bit confuse about performance-based marketing or pay-per-action marketing (PPA) / Pay-per-sale (PPS)

I am member of linkshare, cj, buy.at. i know that an advertiser pays the publisher (me) for every sale I generate from my site. But my question is.. for example I have "Shoes A" displayed in my website.. and the customer.. after clicking "Shoes A" bought "Shoes B" instead.. does that qualified for pay-per-action? Will I still get paid even the customer bought another item and not the specifi item(s) that is displayed in my site?

Thank you in advanced for reply.

It doesn't normally matter what products are actually bought, you still get the commission if you're the last referring affiliate. However, with some retailers, the commission does depend on the product - there are products that the retailer might not have sufficient margin to pay the same commission or pay commission at all. This would be communicated in the program's terms.

If I'm the last referring affiliate? I didn't know that one.

So it means.. that the "Action Referral Period" of let's say 30 days.. is invalid when some other referring affiliate referred the same product to the same customer. Means I don't get commission anymore? Am I correct?

    Thanks Hero for your reply.

If the customer clicks through to the merchant site from another affiliate after they've visited your site, their cookie is overwritten and the other affiliate will get the sale. The industry operates on the basis of last click wins, it's pretty standard.

Yes, you will get commission till the cookie expires or get overwritten or deleted by the visitor's browser or if he does not buy using another browser.

Cookie will expire after the cookie-period. In most cases it is of 30, 45, 60 or 90 days.

Cookie will be overwritten if the de-dupe rule (last referrer will get the commission) is on and the same visitor visits the site via another affiliate's link.

Cookie will be deleted if the visitor clear cookies from browser or reinstall the browser/OS.

Hope it clears all your doubts.
