    Hi,

I'm an experienced web developer turning affiliate. Maybe its too little too late, but I'd still like to give it a go

I just want to know what sort of websites would I need initially to get some product feeds from all or either one of the main product feed networks (e.g. paid on results, affiliate window, CJ).

I personally think a blog would be a good starting point but I'm not too sure what sort of traffic I need on that blog and how many articles per day/week I would need to post on it to qualify for the feeds.

I would mainly be looking to promote merchants related to gifts and experiences, gaming and clothing.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

You do not have to use product feeds. Simply create your blog and post example content, apply to an affiliate network, apply to individual merchants, once accepted begin to blog about topics related to that merchants products, and include affiliate links to the merchants products.

Sounds good but what does it take for a merchant to approve you for promoting. A couple of articles related to that domain sector or tight specific articles about their products?

I just don't want to be knocked down by a merchant when I apply for it.

    Thanks

To be honest it's quite varied, some may not even require you to have a web site developed yet, some with require an active website.

I'd suggest to start off with finding a niche you enjoy writing about and start a blog about it.

Some merchants are set to auto-approve and some networks (e.g., AffiliateFuture) don't require merchant approval at all.

Thanks for you valuable advice guys. So what sectors would you say are easier to blog about and are a good starting point. I'm also looking at financial sector and thinking about building a blog about credit card deals. Is it easier enough to get money super market? what is their criteria?

Start in a niche that interests you, it will make blogging much easier.

You don't need to go after a huge and very competitive niche like credit cards.

Go for something you enjoy and in some way uses products or services.

Ideally aim for something that has products or services either in mass, or at a reasonable price.

    Examples would be

    Like photography?

Write about it and affiliate to camera suppliers, photo printers etc.

    Fishing?

Write about it and affiliate to sites selling fishing equipment.

Or! You've said your a web developer what about writing about that and affiliate to companies like Freelancer? or software etc.

I'm selling a Web Design related domain here https://flippa.com/2632161-5-year-ol...related-domain
