Can you let me know where is the best place to get photos of products I'm promoting?

Is it generally O.K. to get them from manufacturers or merchant's web sites? - or do I always need to check with them first before posting? Obviously I don't want to infringe anyone's copyright and wondered what the usual approach is. Up until now I've been taking my own photos of the limited number of products I've been promoting but this approach is clearly difficult to scale.

I've used the photos from the merchant's own websites so far. Doesn't seem unreasonable as you are trying to create business for them!
I was concerned about this myself previously so asked one of the networks I was using (might have been POR?) about it and they said they'd never heard of affiliates experiencing issues with doing so. Of course, someone may come in and say otherwise now...
