Hi jherraez
I started first of all as an affiliate many years ago and just like you I searched for a forum and came upon this forum. It is worth looking through The Pool and visiting some of the contributors as they have advice sites with a lot of detailed information as to the varying types of affiliate marketing.
You do not need a website to become an affiliate but it can help. Some affiliates just concentrate on social media promotion for example.
If you do opt as many do for a website, then don't even bother with the "shopping" or "price comparison" sites. Instead pick a niche. I am going to post an affiliate site belonging to someone else on this forum who delivers thousands of pounds in sales and is a small affiliate. The Big Bang Theory is a niche site concentrating on the US/UK market for a particular television series and lists products for that show. It's effectively a fan based site.
Note the name as it relates to the series. The site is optimised for Search Engine Optimisation (something else to read about) and lists relevant content.
Now when you have thought of a niche you like then build a website and pack with content about it. Then search for affiliate programs related to that niche and apply to them. The Affiliate Manager will review your site and judge that it is relevant to their Brand/Product/Niche etc. They will then approve you. Then add their banners and text links and if technically minded, the contents of a datafeed which the merchant supplies.
Then use MARKETING to attract visitors to the site. You then earn a commission based on every sale referred (CPA), which is the standard model for affiliates.
