    Hey Guys and Girls,

I'm a re-newcomer back to the world of Affiliate Marketing... I dabbled a little with it 8 years ago before I Joined the Army, and now that I'm out and free again I am starting to get back into it.... It is hard going right now with all of these changes, and a lot of my knowledge is outdated and the Google Panda update has been a thorn in many a side I have been told...

I Am going to develop my sites using a Wordpress format, so I need to get back into the editing of themes to customise them and try and make my traffic convert... I have been back doing this a few months on and off but need to get dedicated now that I am "officially unemployed" in order to make this work for me. Been getting a little bit of traffic so far, but no where near the scale I will be looking for long term... Just need to keep adding more pages....

I have been advised that writing my own content is better than just copying and pasting from product descriptions, as Google now ranks better for custom content, and duplicate content can affect your page/site rankings negatively.

Hopefully having a decent bank of experienced AM's within easy reach should make the learning process less like pulling teeth, and also help give me confidence to keep on going and not jack it in after a couple of weeks because I haven't made alot of cash.

    Thanks in advance,

    Mike

    Hi Mike

Welcome back. That's correct, get plenty of fresh content on there that is unique and give it time for Google to pick it up. Have you come across SeaMonkey? I've used their creator to make tables for some pages of my site, produces HTML code, dead easy to use. Wordpress though is also a good starting point.

I Haven't heard of SeaMonkey (other than the kind you get to put in water tanks) but I will take a look at it and do a bit of research... Thanks for the tip

Hi Mike - sounds like you already have quite a bit of know-how, so you should do well. Your last point about not jacking it in after a couple of weeks is key though - the people who make it in this business aren't necessarily the smartest - they're the ones who persevere!
    Good luck to you!

    Cheers Sue,

Just need to apply said knowledge now to see what I can achieve from this. Will have to invest in a Thesaurus now to allow my content writing to be more varied and informed....

Hi Mike - have you tried thesaurus.com? It's free and much quicker than referring to a book - I use it all the time.

    Happy writing!

Remember quality over quantity, and try to focus on niches that show early promise. You might find my resources site of interest.

hahaha, yeah sue, I had heard about that site, but I feel I will also purchase a thesaurus... Something to be said about a person who has a thesaurus on their book case when guests come around....

Also, Cheers accellerator, I will have a look through your site tomorrow (it'3 22:15 and i'm exhausted now) I already have a couple of domains that I own - One is very niche the other is a little more broad based within a niche, but when I get a chance to get more content and back-links to my sites and see who my users are and what they are after, I will make it more specific to a niche that develops... Just spent today tweaking with stylesheets to brighten sites up and make them more appealing to benefit my conversions WHEN the traffic starts coming through.... Tomorrow shall involve content writing.....
