    Hello all,

My name is Mark as you may have guessed from the title I am a complete newby to affiliate marketing. After coming across books/blogs etc on the subject I would really like to start myself as a way of making a few extra quid each month.

So far I have manged to pick up a few domains which I hope I can monitise and have just bought some hosting so now I am just getting to grips with wordpress to see if I can get the sites up and running.

I have read a few threads on here most notibly Smingle (whose thread I am still reading!) from a couple of years ago where he offered out domains and advice which I hope to follow soon.

    Thanks,

    Mark.

Good on you for giving it a go! I've been a hobby blogger for a few years now and really enjoy it. I'd never claim to be a big earner but it can make a difference, even a few hundred quid is a holiday you might not have gone on otherwise!

A couple of tips, try to reign in any temptation to buy up a tonne of domains! Whilst thinking up new ideas is always fun you need to actually stop and develop sites .

I always liked the idea of having one top project that has the potential to become massive should you get a lucky break! Then something a bit more realistic, perhaps more "niche" than you like but you have a chance of making some cash. And then a couple of things to experiment with.

Good luck with your ventures. Try out a few sectors, but the important thing is to build a quality site and convey quality info of use to the user, so people will link to you. These marketing resources might be of some use.

Many thanks for the knid words and advice....

Think I may have fallen into the ‘buying too many domains’ already! I bought a number of geo related names that I am going to try and develop so fingers crossed!
