    Hi all

Please could someone help me - i recently activated my adwords account only to be told by google that my account had been suspended because my site "doesn't comply with our Terms of Service and Advertising Policies". They have said that my site is what's know as a bridging site and offers the online user no real content and are considered low value to users.

My site is an online shopping directory so naturally its going to direct people to other retailers.

Or is the sign of things to come and its the last squeeze on affiliate marketers?

Any help or advice gratefully welcome.

    Hi Tim01

Gone are the days when you can advertise a list of links on an Adwords landing page without value-adding a lot of additional unique content. These days a bare list of affiliate links won't even buy you a poor quality score it will get your account suspended.

If your focus is retail affiliate marketing you need to set up a landing page with added value such as price comparisons, user reviews, cashback etc. There is some info here on bridge pages and how to avoid being classified as one see: Bridge page - Advertising Policies Help

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you for you help.

So it looks like that shopping directories are becoming frowned upon then? with the bridging policy in place then i guess i will be unable to advertise via google, shame really.

And this policy will have a major knock on effect to anyone else who wishes to advertise online retailers.

    Bit harsh really.
