Hi folks, I am completely new to this and have two websites. I have managed to add Amazon links and banners and widgets from Affiliate Window. But am having problems understanding some things and would really appreciate some help. I have opened a ticket for these things but not received a reply so I wondered if someone here can help. There are links for Readers Digest with special offers and code underneath them to use. I can't get my head around how to add these to my website, I use a code placement tool for adding my own codes and it works with everthing else I have tried, but not these special offer codes all it does is copies the code to the web page. How does everyone else use these? My websites are with 1&1.

I also don't understand why lots of Merchants are listed as providing product feeds and supposedly have widgets available to add products, but when you actually try to access them there are no widgets available, no links nothing, only banners. I just can't make sense of where their product codes or links are?

    Anna,

    Hi

OK lots of questions so lets see if I can trawl through them.

All code is in html so you need to embed with <a href="the url">the text to display</a> using something like Dreamweaver to edit the web page you are working on.

Affiliate Window has a widget creator for you to populate with specific products taken from merchant feeds and this is in your Darwin interface.

Listing feeds however requires you to have a script which can interpret XML or CSV in order to then parse the feed via MySQL and display on your site. The site also needs a few lines of PHP to tell the back end to fetch the feed from the MySQL database that you have created.

Thanks for your help, the website I have has a process for uploading the codes so that stage is quite easy to use. What I was struggling with was how to create the HTML code in the affiliate window site. However I have eventually after hours of trying to make sense of this, discovered some instructions online at a completely different site which explained part of the process. I then realised I was adding the code to the larger box in the create links section, when I should have been adding it to the much smaller URL box and then requesting a shortlink. So I have now been able to use this but it is rediculously complicated with not clear instructions on how to use.

I am not at all clear what or where Darwin is, I don't seem to have acces to this and I can't see any page or section called that? When I login I am taken straight to my Affiliate Window account and I am wondering if my login process is missing out a part of what I should be seeing. I do know Mozilla does this sometimes and it completely cut out the control panel section of my website at login stopping me from being able to access most of the administration process. I managed to resolve this by using another browser and getting the correct login address from that. But I am wondering if the same thing is happening here, as I am finding the processes very difficult to understand and can't find any instructions or product links anywhere. I will have another search.

It's very difficult for us to explain how to do something on your site if you are using a cms and we don't know what it is, as each script works differently. I guess you are using some sort of website builder.

Darwin is simply the name for Affiliate Window's interface - the admin area that you log in to. Once you are logged in to your account you will see Links & Tools in the menu bar. All the different links are under there. By the sound of it you will not be wanting to use feeds, but there are links, banners and content widgets there.

AWin have a help Wiki at Wiki, and it may be a good idea if you went through that.
