Can anyone tell me, did smingle post the SEO off page guide?

Great thread, 3 solid days to read, with all the other stuff on it to look around. Many thanks!

    Phew!!!

It's taken me 3 days to work my way through the thread but well worth it!

I'm another newbie to affiliate marketing after considering having a go for a few months. This thread has been a real eye opener, and thanks go to Smingle and everyone else who has given much needed advice to us newbs!

My brain is swirling with ideas, and i'm starting to learn HTML around my day job building Cisco voice networks. I have a couple of questions which I don't think have been asked yet which I'd be chuffed if someone could answer...

    1) Are there any decent books on AM which would benefit a newbie like myself?

    2) I have an iMac which I intend building the sites with. Is this pheasible? Does wordpress work on macs?

    3) I've looked into a number of keywords and domains and have one in mind which I think could be a good niche, could I PM someone with experience here who would be happy to offer advice on whether the niche/domain is able to be monetised?

    Appreciate your help guys! :-)

Just in case this is any use to you. My site - Online Shopping Directory, Buy Goods Safely - The First Place To Look - is too much for me for a host of reasons. Mainly, because I dont really know what Im doing. I want somebody to take over the site (if they think the site is worth it, obviously!)I dont necessarily want any money for it. I will just keep a small percentage of the company so that when you make a fortune (!) I might make something as well. If you have any interest at all after looking at the site, please email me - peter@thefirstplacetolook.com Thanks!

    "Does wordpress work on macs"

Wordpress is a content managment system that runs on a web server. If you want to develop it off line try MAMP: Mac, Apache, MySQL, PHP

"Are there any decent books on AM which would benefit a newbie like myself?"

    No just read this thread.

    1) Not sure about books, but take a look at my site WebRef.eu for some useful general resources.

    2) iMac should be fine for building sites, you can build a site with a basic text editor if you want to. WordPress runs on a webserver, you can prepare a WordPress site on either a PC or a Mac then upload it to the server.

    3) Yeah, I'll give you my opinion and I promise I won't reg your domain either. I also post as accelerator over at acorndomains.co.uk and you can see I sometimes do domain appraisals over there.

I got to about page 65...I dont think my brain could take much more (plus it seems to be a lot of the same questions etc being asked after the first 30 pages or so).

This thread has definately helped me, I learnt some things I didnt, got plenty of ideas and even more motivation!

I didnt realise until about page 10 that the post was created in Jan last year!

I'll be sure to stick a few links back to your sites Frank once I get relevant sites up and running.

I currently make high £xx a month from my current sites, but im pretty sure with what I have read and the motivation I've got I can soon get that up. I would love to get up to £1500+ a month.

    Hi all

Ive recently bought a domain based on its google kewords volume which is very very good. I am however a little concerned that this figure may be warped by Christmas searches, does anyone have a rough % increase that this period might bring

The search is a 2 word specific item of clothing, 33,100 local searches last month and 82,100 pages listed in google.

    Thanks

best if you try google trends, compare the search volume to regular main stream searches like shirts or something (not a clothing affiliate)

Anyone want this one: combi tvs co uk

    14,000 exact match last month

Get to number one and that will give you 700 hits per month or there abouts.

I would take it but I'm not buying anymore domains for now.
