    hi smingle,

could you explain to me how you calculate the 40% ctr from serps (and explain what ctr/serps are - as i am complete newbie, but want to get into it..!)

Also, how are you determining the conversion rate?
I have a pretty good idea of a site i'd like to do already, with good exact hits / month when i search using google tool (ard 18,000), but just want to 'suss it out' fully, before i go ahead...

THanks for help, and great posts!
    Joe.

Also how long would you expect to spend developing these sites:

How long to actually set up? and then how long a week or month?

Would be interesting to here different peoples opinions on this subject.

citrusjoe - I think Smingle is suggesting that if you rank number 1 in Google for the term used in your domain, then it's a fair estimation that you'd get 40% of the traffic for that term.

As far as conversion is concerned, that's down to years of experience in those sectors.

So your 18,000 search volume would result in 7,200 (40%) visitors to your site if you were number one and then 1%-5% of those (72 to 360) would pass through to the merchant .. of which 2%-? (1+) may result in a sale of £x

Barney - personally, I'd spend an hour on a gateway page to see where the domain ended up in the SERPS after it'd been indexed and then decide from there dependent on position, potential and initial traffic after day one.

    Hi Joe, welcome to a4u.

Gadget pretty much as covered exactly how I have worked them out.

    CTR = Click through rate
Serps = Search engine rankings and not PPC

Feel free to pm me the domain and I will take a look

Horses for courses mate and obviously no definitive answer. I would say an hour for a landing page / index page and then see how it ranks in the serps initially. Then depending on the product / site, determine yourself how much of your time it is worth for how much money it could make

Thanks very much ! hopefully it will give others a big boost and also there are alot of newbies entering the arena, due to redundancies and job losses, so I thought I would do my bit to help people out The link back takes no time or effort and is a small thankyou for myself which I obviously benefit from

    Next one :

    lastminutebreaks / org / uk

I would politely ask for a backlink from whoever buys the domain pointing to www / lollipop / co / uk (replace the / with .) and using the anchor text "cheap holidays"

    1. last minute breaks gets an average of 4,400 exact match searches a month

    2. with a 40% ctr from serps and ONLY 2% conversion rate with an average commision value of just £10, you could make approx £352 a month from the serps alone.

    3. There are currently 215 sponsored ads with the average cpc at £1.31 for the words "last minute breaks"

Thanks, more to follow later.....along with the seo advice....it is taking longer than expected as I keep adding to it lol

I've let the rates compared project rest while the market picks up - its on my 2009 to do list now. Picked up the .com the other day though which should help
