Ignoring the debate of if you should cloak or not, I've personally used GoCodes Redirection Plugin For Wordpress of late. You can see it in action on the blog in my sig. It tracks all the clicks on each "Visit Host" link.

What advice can you give on backlinks?
I've looked at submitting to blog directories - is this a good idea?
If so, a lot of them often ask for a reciprocal link - something which seems to be a 'no-no' having read previous posts regarding chain-backlinks?

My site's now been up for two weeks now - link below. I've got up to 14th in google for the search term 'ladies underwear', however seem to be pretty stable and looking to further optimize my page to climb further in the rankings.

I've run 'site auditor' over my page - seems to do pretty well with keywords/alt tags etc.. however the one thing i am aware of is that I have little/no backlinks - hence the reason for this post.

I'm getting traffic to my site, although no sales yet. I realise it's a marathon and not a sprint so willing to give it time. I've also added a 'shopwindow' as I think my site lacks a little direct-selling approach.

    Any info greatly appreciated.
    Rgds,
    Joe.
    Hi Joe

Nice looking site do you fancy giving me a link to my site ? underwear / co / uk with anchor text underwear ?

I will be posting the off page seo article soon (in the middle of moving and this time next week, will be fully moved in) and it will give you answers where to get backlinks, where to post articles, and what to do about directory submissions.

It should help you and others out alot, and will give you a kick start with your backlinks

Again, well done number 14 in google in that space of time is very good

    maxkay,

You're using H1 tags but try and include H2 tags as headings or sub headings.

Also, your pages (Home, About, Hot Deals) aren't SEO friendly. You need to edit their permalinks. Try reading the 3 part guide to SEO and Wordpress..

    Hope that helps

Fastclick sql lite is free and is a good cloaking php script. I've been using it for a few years and works well. http://www.ftrsoft.com/

Cheers for all the tips and links guys - gonna get to work on changes!!

Vanilla - one quick question about the SEO guide you posted. It mentioned about doing a sitemap using a wordpress plugin. Is this something you'd advise? Reason I ask is the article is pro using google analytics and the overal consensus here seems to be to avoid that?

    maxkay..

Yes I'd suggest using the Sitemap plugin. As soon as you've created a new post/page it will automatically be added to your sitemap which is read by Google, MSN and Yahoo. I wouldn't say Google Analytics is the ultimate package, you might want to use Statcounter. However I'm not sure if there's a Wordpress plugin for statcounter whereas there are plenty of Google Analytics.

These aren't actually "proper" top level domains, they are commercial companies selling subdomains of uk.net and uk.com. I do have a couple but I don't buy them as a matter of course, preferring .co.uk and .org.uk.

OK everyone, I have now put up a site on one of the domains I bought after being advertised in this thread. It's at:

    Mens Shirts

I need to improve the home page text (suggestions welcome).

Any comments on the site are welcome.

Smingle - you have a link to your underwear site at the bottom. I like the holding page picture but when do you hope to get the site live?

    Rgds
