Added your site to Google Webmasters?
If so then have you created/submitted a sitemap and pointed Webmasters to the Sitemap file?
Have been following this thread every day - it's very helpful.
I have a website that has been on google for a few weeks now, I wrote about it in another thread here ;
Fell off Google
The site has come back now, not as high as it was but I can work on that. The problem is, only the home/index page pas been indexed - does anyone know why and what can I do about it ? I did submit a vivastreet link to one of the other pages but .....
The website is - www.ndsbooks.co.uk

This is one of those topics like using analytics or other google tools across many sites. The imporession I get from Smingle is that you can be penalised for showing that you have many sites. I don't know how true this is, perhaps someone else could comment.
I would have thought that the site should have been indexed easily, it was before.
It can take a while to get fully indexed and often some pages don't ever get indexed.
You can help google slightly by having a seperate sitemap - one for humans and and xml version.
as a temporary measure you could try having your main pages in the footer - like a mini sitemap?
Google will have a fair idea of how many sites you have unless you cover your tracks very well, particularly if they are on the same server?
Maybe Smingle was referring to instances where you have loads of sites that you have been careful not to associate with each other?
You mean in respect to linking between your own sites ?
Hi
Could I ask for suggestions/criticism on this site please - mp4player/org/uk
It is in the early stages and I'll be adding more categories as I go along. Is it o.k. just to go with mainly ad units and very little written content?
Thanks
Great use of our Product content units.. though you will need to add lots of written content for Google to like the site, and for it to know what it's about. Each of the pages you have the Easy Content Units on should also have 200-300 words on it as well to give the search engines and your users something to use.
Great start though!

Thanks Jason,
Yes, I have found your Easy Content Units a doddle to master (I'd recommend a4u members to give them a try).
It's not easy though coming up with 200-300 words on each page for basically the same product.

As a bit of inspiration:
For say MP4 Players at Halfords I would perhaps state a few reasons why you would buy from Halfords, their USP's (like free fitting, reserve at store) maybe a bit of background about them as a retailer, and then go on to their range of products, not straying too far from the theme of MP4 Players and making sure your target keywords are in there.
With a bit of waffle you should be able to reach 200-300 words.
Make sure that the information which is important to the user goes above the content unit, and the waffly bit can go below. The units aren't read by the search engines, so it's for the users that placement is more important.
Thats just over 100 words, so it's not too difficult. Once you have a structure to your blurb, you can replicate it across each product page - though mix it up a bit to avoid duplicate content.

Thanks for the ideas Jason, I'll definitely work on the content.
I think I might struggle though to push 'free fitting' as a USP from Halfords for MP4 players.![]()
Though whilst you're there picking up an MP4 player you could take advantage of their free fitting on Sat Nav's or whatever - waffle, waffle, waffle![]()

That's cool. I see where you're coming from. :tup
Developing content by expanding on the overall theme of the merchant. Nice one!
