as .org.uk is treated as a .uk domain and thus relevant to the UK audience, .org is treated as worldwide so isnt as relevant
same with prefering a .co.uk over .com for UK sites
That's intereseting - although .org.uk does OK I agree that .org doesn't. Any explanation on this by chance?
BTW: you should be commended on what you are doing here - not really my thing but good to see someone trying to help people![]()

This thread keeps getting better and better. Here's a question - the 2 sample sites that have been setup are gadget's shoes and clothing, and robaldinho123's platformshoes. The first is static and the second has datafeeds. They are quite basic sites that show how quickly a specific site can be constructed.
So let's assume they both had the same content, which would get the best result - static or datafeed site? I wonder if there is a shopper preference?

I wouldn't suggest anyone go down the route I've taken. It's a very specific trial to see if a single page can rank well for the keywords in the domain. At some point Google will say, that's a rubbish site/page and throw it out. I just want to see what happens.
I'm going to do it for another sector too so there's something to compare it with.
What's everyone else done?
I personally think the static site would do better in the SERPS, but on the flip side I think the shopper would prefer a datafeed as it offers alot more choice to the shopper.
I personally never use datafeeds, as I believe that the website could be "seen" more clearly as an affiliate site to the search engines, and we know how much google dislikes affiliate sites, and it looks set that google will try and alienate as many affiliate sites as possible in the future.
All imo of course.
So who took birthday flowers then ? come on own uplol pm me if you prefer !

Ok here you go : the free seo guide I have been promising - free seo guide | seo advice | smingle
This only covers on page seo, as I decided to break it down into 2 sections to not confuse people who are totally new to this.
Enjoy and hope you find it useful![]()

Anyway good luck to anyone that is just starting out....
With the correct onsite SEO and domain name you can rank on page 1 with only a couple of incoming links.
Not saying you can achieve this all the time but I have with 1 particular product that does get searched for and does sell
