  Adwords Editor Refusing Large Uploads?

I've just tried to upload 90,000 keywords using adwords editor, an endeavour which has taken me all day (and Duncan two full days of work) to prepare. Just as I thought the end was in sight, I got

"Adwords Editor's most recent demand of the system was too demanding to execute. Please try again later"

I thought that was the bloody point of Adwords Editor? Anyone know if this is a usual problem, and if it is... is there a way to deal with it? I thought perhaps trying to upload late at night might mean their systems were quieter?

Bah! What a waste of a day!

Re: Adwords Editor Refusing Large Uploads?

Longest upload I recall is someone else telling me 120k keywords taking about 1.5 hours to go in for them, so I'd say any longer than 2 hours and it's not happening, essentially from what I gather it's only like uploading a csv so shouldn't take forever really.

I tend to spank them up in smaller lots these days, usually around 10k but sometimes around 20k max, I click upload and go make a brew, saves stress in the long run, whilst those 10/20k are uploading you can be working on the next batch of keywords in a spreadsheet and if all screws up then you only have one batch to sort out instead of the lot

Re: Adwords Editor Refusing Large Uploads?

I've just tried it with 7,500 listings and I am getting the same "sorry, this request is too demanding" message.

WTF? This is sooooo aggravating!

hmm strange, have you tried uploading to a different account to figure out if it's just that particular account that's affected for some reason ?

Also have you checked you are running the latest version of editor ? you should be on 4.0.0, you can check by clicking "help" and then "about adwords editor".

failing that it's a case of calling adwords support methinks, let them figure out why their baby won't play nicely

Re: Adwords Editor Refusing Large Uploads?

It is incredibly weird. We are definately running the latest version, and unfortunately we don't have another account to try it out on. It allowed us to chuck up 10,000 listings earlier too!

I posted an image of the error message on my blog.

I'll give Adwords Support a shout I suppose. Most, most odd. I feel as if the search engine gods are against me in my first week back, lol.
