Ads With A Status Of "Awaiting Review"

Hey,

Does anyone know if an adwords specialist actually physically looks at ads which initially show a status of "Awaiting Review"?

I did think this was the case, but I had a couple of ads show this status for all of an hour before being put live the other day, and I KNOW Adwords staff aren't that quick off the mark. It usually takes a day or two!
