  Google quality score?

If your ppc landing page has an excellent google quality score does this mean it will rank well in google's search pages or are they calculated differently ?

Totally different calculations. That said quality score seems to be converging with SEO techniques in terms of on page stuff and unique content etc. Big difference would be that SEO relies a lot on incoming links which don't factor into quality score.

Cheers,
Jon

It means you are off to a very good start.

"quality score seems to be converging with SEO techniques "

I agree.

Big difference would be that SEO relies a lot on incoming links ...

Only in relation to the level of competion.

It depends how NICHE you are talking for your keywords.

I have sites #1 Google with only one incoming link that make money for certain keywords.

The point is if you are building a site with great QS in mind you are also halfway to having a good page for SEO purposes....

...A few inward links....

Some bold keywords...

Well constructed Page titles... (short with main keywords)...

Well thought through "meta description" on each page (I don't give a s**** what the general consensus is...)

Some text links from page under microscope containing keywords that link to other relevant pages (that also contain the keyword).

The above bolded once or twice.

Read my free articles....

Bob's your uncle....

SEO and QS blasted with one stone...

Have a nice day...

Affi Quake

Yup it sure is

when viewing an adgroup you'll see a link in the lower green adgroup header bar that says "Customise columns" just click this and select "Show Quality Score"

Hmm slightly off topic but why would a QS be "Poor" if the keywords are spot on with the landing page, and the content is 100% unique and relevant to the keywords, on top of that being SEO'd very well??

Thanks for the info. I found the Customise Column button but there was no "Show QS" in there!?

  Re: Google quality score?

strange..

are you sure you were in the actual adgroup rather than in the campaign and clicking customise columns for the adgroup display ?

you can only see the quality score at keyword level so you have to be in the actual adgroup you wish to view it in.

should be easy to find like this below .. click on your adgroup then :

  Re: Google quality score?

Hey

Thought this might be an appropriate thread to ask this. I'm trying to get my head around Quality Score, what it is, and what it means, and to be honest its driving me crazy.

Please note: I don't do PPC, I just would like to know because obviously there is an overlap with affiliate marketing.

So, can anyone help answer my questions.

- is quality score linked to individual keywords or adgroups?

- is it determined by stuff like the relevancy of keywords to landing pages? How popular the link is with people searching for the term? whether the display url matches the landing page? The content of the advert?

- if you have a bad quality score, does that mean it will cost you more to appear at the same position in Google paid listings than if you had a high score?

Forgive my ignorance, I really just need a simple definition of quality score so I can understand what people are talking about when they mention it.

  Re: Google quality score?

I think that QS relates to actual adverts rather than landing pages, so probably not, although from what Affi was saying the score is increasingly affected by stuff like content.

But then I'm still trying to work out what it actually is, so I may be completely wrong

If anyone has a definition from Google (I don't have access to an Adwords account, as I said before I don't run our PPC), I would be very grateful. Might make me sound like less of a n00b.

Naomi,

You'll find that there are those which are adovates for "quality score" (i use the term loosely) and those that have the proof & experience to determine it's poppycock too & more a game of russian roulette.

I fall into the latter group.

Yes always build a decent landing which will create the desired action you require, but in my humble opinion, the word "quality" is a sales pitch and Googles "quality score" couldn't differentiate between it's backside from it's elbow.

Google has failed 100% in answering any questions we have directed with them and cases presented, countering every attempted explanation they have attempted.

Here is just one decent blog about it:

  Re: Google quality score?

off topic , never really done any ppc , started a campaign QS is great etc the status is active etc but when i hover over the magnifing glass next to the keywords it says

"The keyword phrase doesn't currently trigger any of your ads"

so my ad is not being shown .

does anybody now y? I have increased bid amount but this has no effect

Aha, that might explain why it was doing my head in, I was trying to apply logic to something that is illogical

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.
