  Re: Poor Quality Score?

My guess would be that Google thinks there is just not enough content on that page - in their opinion a list of product titles, a product image and nothing else is not a good page quality wise.

Would it be better to link to a specific product rather than a category page?

For good quality score you need loads of unique content on your website. You also need to make sure that the keywords on your adwords campaign are tightly related to the keywords on your landing page

This was something I was going to ask on this forum after recent events, what are peoples experiences with AffiliStore 2 and Adwords Quality Score? I haven't used Adwords on my AffiliStore 2 sites but I had mixed results with previous versions when pointing to category pages. Minimum bids tended to be between 10p-50p, not like the old 1p-2p hayday a couple of years ago.

Well to confirm what I said above, I get great qs and minimum bids of 2 and 3p using version 2. I only point straight to the product pages as I'm only dipping my feet in the water with AdWords on this and doing it quiet specific and long tail which means that the ads and keywords i'm using are going to match quite well and also help with the qs if you get my meaning.

  Re: Poor Quality Score?

I also agree with whats been said above, Google doesn't like just a list of products on a landing page.

You can either add a big block of original text to the bottom of the page about lewis hamilton giving details about his background, career, latest results etc then that would be better.

Alternatively, you could create a number of different adverts each pointing to a specific product, although you would need a bit more text in the product description. This method would be the best one, as you're more likely to get more conversions as you're taking visitors straight to the product they are interested in, rather than making them find their product from the list and click on it. Although it seems like making the visitor select their product from the list is quick and simple for them, most people are incredibly lazy, and if you spoon feed them by taking them to an exact product more people will buy.

That is really good news, but it must take a lot of management checking that the product pages are still available when you refresh the feeds (although I should say they will 301 redirect to the homepage if they no longer exist).

So I guess this would work well if you are targeting 10-20 product pages that you can manage and keep up to date?

I should really give it another go with my sites

  Re: Poor Quality Score?

Glad I've given you some good news! I'm doing it on a very small scale at the moment and it isn't time consuming to check the ad's are pointing to the correct pages at the moment, but I've not actually spent much time on this site as of yet and I'm not sure if it would scale up to bigger plans.

About the 301 redirect yeah I noticed that with some organic listings after I updated the feed the first time, but I didn't realise straight away. Guess its not the most disasterous thing in the world.

  Re: Poor Quality Score?

The option (in General Settings) to use the merchant product IDs helps keep the product pages when refreshing the feeds but as we have no control over the feeds we are always going to lose product pages that previously existed.

There is the option to create your own landing page, for example iPhone - Cheapest Mobile Phones | Compare Prices | TV Mobile Shop but this is time consuming and defeats the purpose of a product driven comparison website.

So to 301 redirect the visitor to the homepage at least allows them to search for similar products rather than being given an error page.
