  Ad Words Quality Score

Hey All

I've recently started looking after PPC for a reasonably small sized company, which obviously means spend has to be efficient. This can obviously be managed in a number of ways on google, such as keeping you bids low, managing the times you appear on google, and then the ultimate - improving your quality score for individual keywords.

Now, I understand that quality score is govened by various factors, such as the success of a keyword as it builds up momentum in the account, the actual bid, the ad content, and the quality of the landing page.

My question is whether anyone has experience in improving the quality score of individual keywords by making changes on the landing page. Does changing the <h1> tag to match keyword content help? Is it good to repeat the keyword a number of times on the page? Do meta tags have any impact?

Any thoughts or discussions on this would be really helpful.

Thanks
Al

The same principles as SEO apply here to a degree ..... ie. the relevancy of the page is tested.

Also, recent new introduction of page 'weight' has been placed by Google (i.e. how long the page takes to load).

See What is 'Quality Score' and how is it calculated? for general info and Landing Page and Site Quality Guidelines for landing page guidelines.

Cheers

Thanks John. I've heard the speed of the page can also affect the score so I guess we need to make sure the servers can handle the traffic. Any ideas on standard loading times or the limit in terms of the time it should take?

I'll take a look at those guide!

Whoh there - don't get too carried away, on page quality score, although important is NOWHERE NEAR as big a job as on page seo - if you send relevant traffic to a relevant page you'll be fine - load page is only in extreme instances

  Re: Ad Words Quality Score

The quality score aspect is a bit of a joke really. Some of my sites went from an excellent quality score to poor, and the bit price shot up. Put the same site on a new domain, and the quality score is excellent again, it seems pretty random.

Essentially, all the same things you would use for SEO will help the score, but you really can't base too much on it.
