Ideally don't do it! Theres a reason that there are h2, h3, h4 etc tags.
Put your most important keyword specific text in your h1 tag, then put the next important title in your h2.
If its a lengthy passage of text use the paragraph tags <p>
What is the general opinion on having 2 H1 tags on same page.
For example:
H1 Tag for the image replaced logo text
H1 Tag for the 'page title'
Apparently quite a few SEO experts use this technique.
Any experience/advice from anyone?
Thanks,
Tim

I guess I want both my website name and page title to carry as much weight as each other. I wouldn't make my page title a H2, so I will probably just make my logo text a normal div/p.
I'd just put the logo normally (as its an image) - also stick an image alt containing your keyword phrase on your image as well to add extra weight. You could always use an h2 or h3 tag just to indicate its additional importance...
Yes thats fine - if you're coding with xhtml/css it doesn't really matter though. Code the div with the h1 in first in the document, then follow this with the div containing your h2 etc - then just use css to position the elements where ever you want on the page. Personally though i don't think it makes too much difference as long as you can differentiate between the different levels of tag.
There are cases where people have gone into h1 overload and had lots of h1 tags on the page, hence the page has been devalued for excessive use - tbh if you use 2 or even 3 h1 tags on the same page it shouldn't cause too much of a problem as long as you're sensible! I've seen whole paragraphs encased in h1 tags before lol
