yes, you can use yahoo site explorer (just google it)
It is not 100% accurate and uptodate, but is quite useful

    Use this entry in Google..

    link:http://www.urlyouwanttocheck.com

You need to know that each search engine counts different backlinks, so for example Yahoo will count a different number than Google.

There is also a handy backlink checking tool at seo-guy.com

Yahoo will give you the most results. There's plenty of free and paid tools out there too.

Yeah, probably Site Explorer is one of the best ways. Use a simple command...

    linkdomain:mysite.com

That should help you to find out backlinks, or if you use Firefox then you could use the SEO for Firefox plugin, I highly recommend it. Underneath domains in Google SERPs it will give you a lot of commands that with a simple click can give you most of the information you will ever need.

Watch the video on the site which will tell you all you need to know

SEO for Firefox Extension: Free SEO Toolbar Firefox Browser Plugin

Obviously you need Firefox first, but I swapped over to Firefox from IE over a year ago and find it really useful for SEO purposes.

I've used Firefox for a couple of years or more, but I can't download the plugin you suggest. I get a 288 error each time I try.

    Any suggestions
