I've just changed web host, and so far have just edited Nameserver info. I'm planning to transfer the domains as they are due to expire.

Any idea if I should expect a hit from G ?

It depends... you might see a bit of a blip if the nameservers don't update quickly enough (hence bots will likely experience some downtime), also if your moving host and the new host is in a different location (ie your moving from a US to a UK ip) then this might affect your ranking ie your Google.com ranking will likely decrease and your Google.co.uk rank will increase. At the end of the day, fingers crossed nothing will change, but as with everything, its impossible to say. Just make sure you have your site ready on the new host so that when you change your nameservers you don't have to muck around setting the site up once it starts to resolve on the new host.

Edit: i seem to have blabbed - did that make any sense?

    Perfect sense

I've tested moving one site so far. I uploaded everything then updated the nameservers with the old host. I certainly didn't see any downtime and I was checking every couple of hours.

    Thanks for replying.

    Ditto sabian1982.

Changing host between different countries can impact the SERPs for those countries. Google assumes that a UK-based web host servers UK-based traffic. A US-based web host serves US-based traffic, etc.

That is, assuming that you are using .com for your domain. Google always assumes that a domain ending .co.uk is targeting the UK.

However, if you are moving from country to country, you can use Google Webmaster Tools to specify which country should be targeted. I must confess that I have never tried it (it is quite new), but it is designed to cope with this sort of potential problem.
