    Hi All;

    Bit of a strange one this, I have been monitoring our position on Yahoo for certain search terms. For one keyword which is an extremely competitive one we were on the second page of Yahoo and I have been working at improving the rank by optimising pages and writing (good quality) articles with a couple of anchor text links in, nothing spammy and in fairly small quantities.

    I checked Yahoo yesterday and I have noticed that we have completely disappeared from the search results

    For other keywords we are still there so we haven't been removed or penalised as such. I logged into Yahoo's Site Explorer and saw that Yahoo has now almost indexed every page on our site,it shot up from having only one page indexed last week and now it stands at 16. It also shows that 7 inbound links have been removed (incidentally all of which came from my sig on A4U)

    Not really sure what has happened and what I can do to remedy it. Any Ideas? Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

    strange one that

    Do you rank for the pages's title in " "
    search a block of text and see if you rank or the page has been deindexed.

    PM me your site if you like an il take a look.
    Good be what is called an upstream when yahoo or google penalises a core search term for your site due to paid links ot something similar.

    The page itself is still indexed, in fact since I noticed this Yahoo has actually now indexed most of my site where previously I was ranking OK with just the one page included.

    I did pay for some decent non-spammy articles to be written and submitted with some anchor text links in there which do contain the core search term and wonder if that has anything to do with it. I find it more strange that most of the links from the A4U forum were removed from Site Explorer.

    It's frustrating as it has put me back to square one with yahoo when I had been doing quite well. Saying that the site has only been live a month or so and I have a long way to go with organic search on both Yahoo and Google! I will keep an eye on it just in case it is a temporary blip perhaps because my links have now halved due to certain A4U links being removed.

    I wouldnt completely panic straight away. It could be that the engine is "thinking" about your site and will reindex it on the front page in a few days.

    As odd as this sounds it happens quite frequently, iv seen it on my own sites both in Google and Yahoo and normally it will sort itself out and iv come to see it is a great thing as it normally heralds a large jump up in the serps.

    Leave it a week and come back to it. Bet you 20 quid it will all be fine:tup If not your have my permision to use the following item:

    It is so frustrating when I find out about search engines removing back links. It takes so much work and effort to create those links and the search engines seem to want to make it hard to receive organic traffic because they want you to pay for their ads to be listed at the top. It seems like a money making thing. Thankfully there is more than one search engine out there, and not all of them do this.
