For OnPage, read the guide form Smigle http://www.smingle.co.uk/freeseoguide/

For OffPage its incoming links, within content from sites that match the category or products you are promioting, so if you have a DVD affiliate site, try to get links from other DVD related sites and make sure the anchor text in the links is also DVD related with your key words/phrases

I've seen many questions regarding on-page and off-page SEO. Many webmasters don't have a clear difference between them, so here it is:
The point of On-Page SEO is to optimize you website and pages. This includes a good keyword density within your articles, important meta tags, title tags (for links), alt attribute (for images), the usage of heading tags for the important titles (H1, H2 and H3), and the existence of the sitemap, and robots.txt.
After you have done good on-page SEO, you can start doing Off-Page SEO. This means link popularity, for a good keyword optimization. You can get relevant quality backlinks from social bookmarking websites, blogging platforms, forum posting and signatures, blog comments and web directories.
Both on-page and off-page optimization are essential for overall effective SEO campaign. Its tough to achieve the success without each one of them.We have to focus and do both in a parallel way in order to achieve success in SEO. However offpage is something without which you can't rank for competitive terms..

When I upload and add an image to a Wordpress post using the built in image uploaded, it uses the title attribute on the post images rather than the alt - does this make a difference?

Search engine --> your keyword "online forex" showing in top 10 list of Search Engine's with your site Example Web Page... Your site's having the same topic all over the content not too much really.. In meta, url, title and Hi tags... optimized.... And all this are possible because of off- page... it helps the keyword to boost up to rank..

    Results.. traffic and money...

Off- simply means .. vote for the site from different websites...

    Cheers!!

Can do as Google images will look for that when crawling your site, but is not to much of an issue if you dont want people steeling your images

    Hi nilulk,

Samlko is right - both on-page and off-page optimisation are needed to get optimum rankings for your site.

Simplistically put, on-site optimisation is about making sure search engines know what each page of your site is about, and off-page optimisation is about convincing search engines that your pages are popular and important.

With on-page optimisation, you select keyphrases that potential customers for your site are actually searching on, then use strategic placement of those phrases in the tags and copy of the pages of your site to show search engines that your pages are relevant when people search for those phrases.

Off-page optimisation is mainly about generating links to your site. Each link is treated by search engines as a "vote of confidence" for your site, although the "confidence rating" of the site the link originated from is also taken into account. The more quality links your site has, the more it will be seen as an "authority" in its particular field. All the search engines want to do is to deliver the most relevant results possible to their users - SEO is all about making your site appear as relevant as possible for searches in your niche.

So you can't really say that on-site is more important than off-site, or vice versa. Both need to be used in tandem as part of a comprehensive and ongoing SEO strategy if you want to achieve the best possible search engine traffic levels.

But I'm guessing the real point of your question is which to spend more time on, and which delivers the best results. As with most things in SEO, there is no easy answer. It all depends on the current state and standing of your site, and, equally importantly, the state and standing of your competitor's sites.

    Hope that helps!

Both are important, the On Page optimization by itself will not guarantee that your website gets good ranking unless performed in concert with Off page optimization strategies. Meaning, both On page and Off page optimization techniques need to work hand in hand for you to get the results that you want.

Both activities are important. But onpage stands first as without perfect onpage, offpage won't work!

I don't think that's true, shipra - I've seen plenty of flash-only and purely image-based sites for big corporate brands that rank well simply because they have a lot of inbound links. Sites with virtually no on-page SEO can rank well, but it takes a hell of a lot of off-page work to get them there. A site with good on-page SEO will take less off-page work to get it ranked well.

The basic point is that if you want the best possible rankings for your site, then you should be doing everything you can towards that end, which includes both extensive on-page SEO and an ongoing off-page SEO campaign.

True Shipra and Martinjc, both are beneficial to a site and without the other one, one cannot function well. You should optimize both to have a huge traffic to your site.
