Whatever you do, be wary of Linktank. I know that he sent you a few twitter messages before he deleted his account yesterday, but be careful in hiring his link building 'services'.

You could scout around and offer to be sponsors for blog contests and ask to put your specific anchor text for your site. This is a very good way to get not just backlinks but links with your chosen keywords that you rank in the search engines.

I've recently heard about Free Traffic System which allows you to build many one way links. One article that you submit to Free Traffic System “converts” into up to 60 quality one way backlinks - for FREE! I've yet to use it but will be looking into this soon. Has anyone used this before, do share your experience.

If you want to take anyones advice on link building take dougs.

I've been using some link analysis software and checking out the backlinks of some of the top ranking sites on many different terms and I can safely say in my non expert opinion but semi authoritative tone () that having compared many sites techniques and practices dougs looks like it is built on stone where as most other sites are built on sand.

    Go figure...

    Thanks Tom

We try to be simple and get on theme links, directories, blogs, articles, press releases, other real sites.....we also are willing to chase links from sites we think are quality. Not saying we always get it right, but we try to get REAL links from REAL sites and on theme.

We don't pay as we know that if people will take money from us they will take them from other people. Ultimatley these sites end up with gambling/drugs/porn links. Also financially a paid link will costs at best £50 per annum.....for £50 you can have a person spend all day getting you one decent link that lasts for ever. Also in most sectors I reckon 20 links is enough to get you in the top 5 for a long time.

The model has hardly changed for years, and we seem to do ok...obviously touching wood there.

Most people simply give up and dont do the work.

A good starting point is competitor analysis using the link / linkdomain searches in yahoo.

Obviously if anybody wants to trade links then PM me. We operate in most sectors and if need be we will create full pages of content on some of our sites so as to add your link

We have a simple philosophy of trying to match suitable sites together. We don't care about your PR etc etc, if we believe it is useful to add a link to one of our sites to one of yours then we will do it. Obviously we are always looking to see if we can get a similar proper link back. As I said don't worry about your PR as we know if we think it's ok then so will G probably.

So if you want to trade proper links then PM me.

    Doug
