Just developing a site need SEO help

Heres some basic principles

Title Tags
Probably the most important part of your page. Use the Googke Keyword Tool https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal to work through your terms (tip filter by last month) and try and go for 2 or 3 word terms to start, 2 and 1 word terms will come later. every page on your site needs a unique title tag. remember you dont have to start it with your business name (i usually put this at the end)

Meta Tags
Dont bother with these they take up too much time and arent effective

Page Content
Write A LOT about your products and services - at least 1/2 page a4 for each page. Do a keyword density check using Keyword Density - SEO Tools - Search Engine Optimization, Google Optimization and edit down your copy to get a density of around 3%. The hardest bit of this is to keep your copy engaging and worth reading whilst having enough copy on the page. Its vitally important that you use <b> or <strong> in your copy, preferably once or twice around your keywords.

Semantic HTML
theres a lot of hype about using semantic html (making use of h1 etc tags) to aid seo. Last month at the SEO conf, it was widely acknowledged that this has little or no benefit to SEO so use it more for usability than SEO (thats why i said to use B / STRONG above)

Internal Links
Avoid using anchor text like "click here" or "more" instead use the title of your pages to link to them i.e. read more about [link]blue widgets[/link] in our comprehensive guide.

Alt Attribute
Keep your alt attributes short and to the point, dont think about SEO for these.

Link Building
Get all of your suppliers and favourite customers to link to your site. Ask them to use one or more of your keyterms in the link i.e. for [link]blue widgets[/link] visit Company ABC. Links are where most of your SEO efforts are put. Sign up for free blogs on all providers and start talking about your industry (not your products) and link out where appropriate using your keywords as anchor text - dont forget to deep link to relevant pages within your website. on and use a service like pingoat.com to notify google etc of your post updates. Blog every day, look for links every day and you cant go wrong

Pagerank
Ignore this for the most part. the coloured bar in the google toolbar lies to you all the time. just check that a site does have pagerank and thats enough.
