I am working on a website with 200 or so pages. I'd like to move some into a subdirectory. Does anyone know what the SEO implications of doing this are? How much PR will I loose? I would keep a descriptive folder name, such as:

    www.mysite.com/spanners/index.html
    www.mysite.com/hammers/index.html
    www.mysite.com/nails/index.html

At the moment, these files are in the root, but it's so unmanageable.
    Any ideas?

With 200 pages, I would use seperate folder if they relate to different topics. Having it all in one location if it is flat html would be a nightmare to deal with.

Base on your examples I have never read any where that search engines would penalize for it.
