There are plenty of links that can be built while doing online business; few of them are listed below:

1.) Authority Link- It helps to get links directly from sources that would be considered trusted seed sites in algorithms like DMOZ, the Yahoo! Directory, and Wikipedia might be considered obvious authorities and trust seed sites. It can be done for good search engine ranking, increasing link popularity and attracting more traffic to self-owned website.

ii) Directory Link- It is the process of building a link with few well-known directories like Dmoz, Yahoo.dir, and business.com in order to find niche directories.

iii) Reciprocal Link- It is the process of exchanging links based on some agreement between two trusted websites who shares the same business interest with an aim of increase website traffic and link popularity.

iv) One-Way Link- It is the process of link building where link is built with some website on their interest, without getting connected back to that website. It is also called inbound link, which is highly important for link popularity.

    V) Press release links - Press releases are generally NOT a great way to get links, but you can pick up some that may be of value. Every little bit helps, and remember (again) this is only a small part of your overall link profile.

Vi) Article links - This can be a GREAT way to get some good authority links from high profile sites. They’ll appreciate great content in return for the exposure and link popularity you’ll receive. The better the site is, the higher quality content they will require. There’s no such thing as a free lunch.

Vii) RSS/ Blog aggregated links - Not worth a whole lot, but you’ll pick up a whole bunch of links this way. They’re “power” is minimal at best and highly debated. There are, however, plenty of legitimate sites that aggregate content where you may pick up some decent link

Link building is the process of getting other web pages, and web sites to place a hypertext link to yours, which generates direct targeted traffic to your site, while more importantly increasing your search engine visibility and rankings. Building links to your site should be an ongoing process of research, communication and attaining quality in-coming links to your web site.

    Link Exchanges
This is the procedure by which one site agrees to link to another site in return for a link back from that site.

    Article Writing and Submission
Article submission is a very powerful tool for search engine optimization. anybody with a good knowledge and skill in the use of article writing can make of it one of the best SEO devices, and a traffic generating tool in no time. The main aim of article submission the placement and use of strategic links to the target pages.

    Press Release Submission
SEO press releases can bring you first-page visibility for your keywords very quickly. Sometimes, you can take over multiple spots on the first page of Google for your keywords.

    Directory Submission
Directories have proven an important source for links. These links should ideally be optimized for the keywords that we want our site ranked for in the search engines.

    Social Bookmarking
is now a major building block for driving to traffic to your website. If done properly you can expect to use it as an easy and inexpensive method for natural search engine referred traffic to your site.

    Forum Posting and Blog Commenting
By posting regularly to these forums and blogs, and properly utilizing the signature tags, you can generate much needed back links to your web page which helps with search engine optimization for your site.

One of the best places to have backlinks to your website are serious and "heavy" websites. For example the ones that end in .gov or .edu However, it will be really difficult to achieve it. Backlinking success depends only on the content you provide. Then you will recieve backlinks without even asking.

There are many ways of link building and here is what I've been doing: Writing and Submit article to directories, Commenting on blogs, posting in forums and social Bookmarking. I think that's good enough and need to be consistent basic.

    Thanks

Point VI - Spot on. There are really good article submission tools out there right. I've been using a system called FreeTrafficSystem - it has two options: free and paid (before anyone tries to flame me, it's not a site I own ).

3 way linking works like this:

    1. You send a backlink to a site.

    2. The owner of that site sends you back a link from another site.

Well let me elaborate it in a different tone using active and passive link building.
Active linkbuilding :- it’s a normal link building technique to create quality backlinks. For ex:- article submission, directories, forum posting with signatures, blog commenting etc.
Passive Linkbuilding:- Write unique and quality content on your site, so that it helps user. People will automatically link back to your site and your content.
