    Hi,

Just wondered if anybody could help - I am in the process of redesigning my website and moving from asp to php.

Does anyone have any idea of how I can maintain my current SEO and what I should watch out for when I move over?

Any help would be greatly apperciated

I take it your pages are currently .asp and will be changed to .php ?

If you 301 rediect all the old the the new, there may be a short term drop, but over the slightly longer term it shouldn't cause any issues.

of course this depends on what other changes you will be making if any.

also, I suppose you could switch to php but keep your .asp page extensions the same, so there would in effect be no noticable difference

    Thanks for your help.

When you say keep the page extensions the same what do you mean?

    Thanks again

say you have a page like this mydomain .com/some-page.php

instead of saving the page with the .php extension, you could save it with the .asp extension and then create a (or edit your current) .htaccess file with this as the first line

AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .htm .html .asp

this would allow you to create php pages with the .asp extension (or any other extension that you wish)
