1 and 1 Internet Hosting IP address

hi there

i'm considering hosting with 1 and 1 however their IP addresses resolve to Germany

My Aff website however is aimed at the UK market and UK search engines.

from what i understand this won't help in Google's eyes to rank me in the .co.uk engine is this true?

Although 1&1 say they are UK based they are not - you are correct as their servers are based in Germany. To be honest I used to host my sites in the US but have now switched to EUKHOST as they are in the UK and it's just easier to get hold of support when I need to. So far they've been good.

Yeah I would use someone else if I were you. If I remember right 1and1 used to have a UK IP a long time ago but thats no longer the case.

I emailed them asking if they could do UK IPs and the answer was a big fat no so Im in the process of moving my domains away from them. :td
