I just want to work out some sort of business plan, can few people who have 1st position on SERPS tell me what is usually their CTR as a percentage of impressions.

Lets say that key-phrase is "blue widget", that according to Big G's KWT that phrase gets 100,000 impressions and you have a bluewidget.com domain. What would be CTR as a percentage of those 100,000 impressions.

Just few examples, so we can get some statistics.

cheers in a body and soul !

My experience of using google KW tool is that for generic terms, e.g. "blue widgets" the estimate from google is massively inflated. For the sub terms e.g. "buy blue widgets online" the number is more accurate. For generic terms the CTR when i have been number 1 has been under 1% but for sub terms the CTR is more sensible e.g. 30%+

    Sure I've seen stuff stating it's typically 30-60% ........

Kitbag.com for example has a quite a few top slots for certain phrases keywords and I would suggest it's not far from being accurate.

30-60% is a big range though - many variables are different in each case / search etc.

Its also going to be dependant on elements like a well written title and description tag people are more likely to click on a listing that speak to them, in the same way that they would click on PPC ads that most appeal.
