    Hi

I was experiencing some decent traffic to my site from google then all of a sudden my website doesn't even rank 1st for "auto cashback mobiles" the domain is autocashbackmobiles co uk.

I cannot seem to find it in depths either anymore. I had blocked google from crawling my site completely for quite a while as the site was under reconstruction. Thereafter google crawled the site again the site was slowly reaching that number one spot and finally when it did it stayed there for quite a while n boom it's no where to be found.

    Any ideas?

Its on top on bing and yahoo

Hi we recently had this problem with one of our sites where it woul dbe at number 1 then dissappear then come back at number 1. We found this was due to too many internal links on the first page. I believe it is called the yo-yo effect. Here is an interesting article on it:-
The Yo Yo Effect - is it now getting worse? - The Yo Yo Effect - is it now getting worse?

What is considered as too many internal links on the first page?

Do you reckon my homepage has too many?

Also I'm not eperiening the yoyo affect. My site has been dropped into the depths and has never come back up.

I have found Google to be more sporadic than usual over the last 2/3 weeks, think maybe something big is happening?

We noticed the problem with our maternity swimwear site for the keywords maternity swimwear. We removed a lot of the internal category linking off of the front page and it seems to settle although it does now drop from number 1 it always seems to stay on the front page. I think google are changing things. I wonder if some of the tests mention here BBC NEWS | Technology | New Google 'puts Bing in shade' are live as well. While I haven't looked at your site directly the yo-yo effect seems to be what we epxerienced. It could be something different for yours.

it just started coming back up in the search rankings after about a month now. I am probably experiencing a yoyo effect. Need to get rid of some internal links then.

What you guys think I should get rid of on my homepage? Possibly some of the footer links? The website is Mobile Phone Contracts with Automatic CashBack

Like this vanishing happens some time... But if your site completely vanished from SERP is problem.. What about other keywords even its not competitive... in Good position. Check with Google Analytic...Like this issue is normal.. but within weeks should be back... if the problem remines after a month.. then has to be very careful. Also check on webmaster tool may report some error

There is definatley a Yo-Yo effect going on at the moment . personally there are 3 websites (one of which is mine) which are in the top 3 positions in google UK for a search term but they swap position nearly every week

I think I maybe experiencing the yoyo effect as I am back up again for the usual search terms, which I expect my site to be at least on the first page for. The site came back up to top for 'auto cashback mobiles' just yesterday night.

i have been using analytics and webmasters tools the only problems it gave were a few nitty gritty things like duplicate meta description (which I sorted out immediately)

I've blocked off using 301s and robots to urls that do not exist anymore as google was giving me crawl errors on those pages. SO that has been sorted just one more url for google to recognise as been blocked by robots and all errors should disappear.

I probably will get rid of some links on my homepage to see if I still do experience the yoyo effect.
