the explanation Wikipedia gives should be enough to put your neighbour off this stupid idea Keyword stuffing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Just wondered if anyone could offer a bit of advice?
I've built a website for a neighbour who has now contracted a 'SEO/Marketing' agency to improve his SERPS. I have had my suspicions about them, but this was confirmed today as I have just received a request to add 700+ keywords as metatags! These are all basically typos for my neighbours business services.
Now I know this is a bad idea, but can anyone point me in the right direction for an authoritive opinion as to why this is sooo bad. At best I can only think this will have a very negative effect on the SERPs but I believe it's also just as likely to result in the domain being dropped entirely.
I have mentioned this but the response can be summed up as, "I'm sure they know what they're doing".
Would be very grateful if someone could find a definitive reason why this mustn't be done - unless, of course, you know different?
Very many thanks
