Hi there
I have a domain name with a hyphen, say domain-name.com, which will be the primary site.
The owner of the un-hyphenated version (domainname.com) has agreed to let me use it for an unlimited period of time. The un-hyphenated version has been registered since 1998 but has never had any content on it.
What is the best way to direct visitors of domainname.com to my site, should I just 301 redirect it or, since the name has been registered for so long will it be better to build a mini site and link to domain-name.com. Will the age of the un-hyphenated domain itself carry weight even though no content has ever been live?
Steve
Yep, 301 it, but don't link build for it. The original owner may well take it back one day. Buy the other domain if you can
Thanks guys. I've been trying to buy the domain but they are not too keen to sell. I'll stick with the 301 redirect for now until I can wear them down with pleading requests![]()
