Having difficulties with getting indexed and ranked

Hey folks

Is it me, or has it been increasingly difficult to get indexed and ranked lately? The old method of posting to social bookmarking sites seems to have almost no effect whatsoever. Not even submitting to rss directories seems to have any effect.

I used to get my sites ranked with Angela's backlinks on the Warrior forum before, but those didn't seem to be working much and taking up a LOT of my time, so I stopped my subscription. People are even saying article marketing isn't working much either now, so I'm a little stuck as to what to do to get a good ranking and to get indexed.

Seriously? You think the best way to start a new site off is to give it the same link profile as millions of other sites?

As much as I hate to endorse anything Google says, getting quality editorial links from relevant sites, whose users might like to see your content isn't a bad idea
