I have been quoted £1000.00 for SEO services from an established local web design company but what would they do? How would they get me links?

I'm not sure how they would go about it but if I were you I would do it myself especially for that price.

Have you thought about going more niche with your site so you don't have to put in as much time and money to see results?

Um, I think you'd have to ask them, really. Whilst the principles remain the same, individual companies can take very different approaches. Even more so for linkbuilding.

Ideally they'll advise on / make changes to your code, and get you some quality editorial links. Then again £1000 is really cheap. Maybe they won't

Yes, £1000 for SEO is really cheap. If it for an affiliate site, do the link building yourself. Use a backlink analysis tool such as Link Diagnosis - examine your link competition and see how your competitors are getting links.

SEO companies do nothing dissimilar to your freelance SEO or nothing special for that matter. A large percentage of what your paying for is simply their office rental costs, their account managers pay packet and there over valued time. I highly doubt they have access to links better than most.

Saying that, having someone who is on the ball with SEO and up to date with industry updates can be invaluable at times.

£1000 is pretty high.. Most of SEO companies do this.. atleast we do following
    1) Analyse keywords
    2) Analyse competitors
    3) Site Structure Changes if require
    4) OnPage Optimization
    5) Link Building Plan - that includes Directory Listings, Press Releases, Thematic link building, article syndication, video marketing
    6) Web Stats analysis and reporting

Normally anything like this should not be more than $500..

Probably you are paying more because its a local firm, outsource it

What if I teach you how to do it?

Instead of paying for some "secret" knowledge I'll share it with you, plus I will give you access to amazing tools...the best part would be that you will get a Process To Follow that you can use over and over again, anyway, if you are interested, let me know.

SEO companies work to promote your site in Search Engines to drive targeted traffic to your site for a particular keyword. But the fee they are asking for is pretty high.

    Pretty high????

You would be lucky to get someone half decent for a half a day a month for $500

Bit dubious if its just a one off fee, SEO is ongoing .....

Companies provide both on page and off page activities...but if you said services provided by seo companies then normally these are off page activities which ui=including directories submission, blog commenting, press releases, email marketing and many more..

I'm curious... do people really think £1000 for SEO is expensive?

Depends on what you get for the money I guess and what your tying to market.

If your a newbie affiliate trying to market a £10 product spending £1k on seo on your affiliate site would be silly as you may never see a roi.

If you know the market is large enough, the conversion rate on your site and potential roi's then £1000 a month would be nothing.

Personally I would love to use your services Brendon, I just need the right site before I ask you
